When an IP WAN connects various sites in a Cisco Unified Communications network, bandwidth consumption at the IP WAN should be minimized. Several techniques can help conserve bandwidth on the IP WAN in a multisite deployment:
- Reducing the required bandwidth of voice and video streams
- Separating some voice streams (such as local media resources) from the IP WAN
- Employing special features like multicast MOH from branch router flash (or the use of transcoders)
In this section, we describe all of these techniques and features, and their implementation.
